A Pinched Nerve can Cause Pain in Your Arm

Sometimes pain can sneak up on you. One day your feeling fine, then the next day you have pain shooting out of your neck into your shoulder and down your arm. You could have a burning pain in your shoulder blade or numbness and tingling in your hand also. If you have pain like this you may be suffering from what is commonly referred to as a pinched nerve. A pinched nerve can cause pain just about anywhere in your body, but most people refer to this term when they have pain in their arm or leg.

Pinched Nerve Symptoms

  • Burning or sharp pain into your arm or leg
  • Pain that travels from your neck or back
  • A pinching sensation when you turn your neck
  • A sharp jolt when you twist your back
  • Pain that has you very distracted
  • Pain in your shoulder blade or buttock
  • Numbness/ tingling in your arm or leg
  • Pain over your ear, into your face or jaw
  • Headaches can also be from a pinched nerve

Pinched Nerve Secrets

The term pinched nerve to describe your pain is more of a layman’s term, and is generally not 100% accurate. Most people with these symptoms, actually just have nerve irritation or inflammation. Calling it pinched is more for simplification and ease of understanding. Although direct nerve pinching can and does happen, such as in the cases of a herniated disc, bone spurs, arthritis, and spinal stenosis, this is not always the case.
