Tennis Elbow Pain Signs

Pain in and around the outside of your elbow could be a sign that you suffer from tennis elbow. Although your tennis backhand can be the culprit, there can be many other causes for your pain. Your elbow joint is connected by muscles, ligaments and tendons to your hand and wrist, so any activity with gripping or using your arm can contribute to this injury.

Tennis elbow is also known as lateral epicondylitis which is inflammation around your elbow. Everyday activities may aggravate it, causing sharp pain to radiate from your elbow into your forearm and wrist. You may have the following signs and symptoms:

  • Pain when you shake hands
  • Pain when you open a door
  • Pain when you drink a cup of coffee
  • Pain when you push around your elbow
  • Pain driving your car or playing golf
  • Pain when you use a hammer or screwdriver
  • Pain when you use a computer mouse
  • Loss of motion and clicking in your elbow

Tennis Elbow Causes

  • Overuse of any activity using your hand, wrist or elbow
  • Anything that causes Inflammation around your elbow joint
  • When you grip objects tightly or clench your fists
  • Tight forearm muscles
  • Misalignment of your elbow, wrist, or shoulder
  • Misalignment of your neck or upper back
  • Pinched nerves in your neck, upper back, or arm

Tennis Elbow Treatment
